Myopia is no longer just an inconvenience corrected by stronger glasses each year. We now know that high myopia significantly raises lifetime risk of retinal detachment, glaucoma, and macular disease. Our Myopia Control Clinic uses evidence-based treatments proven to slow myopia progression in children and teens — protecting their vision well into adulthood.
Treatments We Offer
Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
Custom overnight contact lenses that gently reshape the cornea — clear vision all day without glasses or daytime contacts.
MiSight Daily Disposables
Health Canada–approved soft contact lenses designed specifically for myopia control in children.
Low-Dose Atropine
Compounded atropine eye drops, used at bedtime, shown to slow axial elongation.
Myopia Control Spectacle Lenses
Specialty lens designs (DIMS, HAL) for children not yet ready for contact lenses.
Behavioural Counselling
Outdoor time and near-work guidance — small lifestyle changes with measurable benefit.
Combination Therapy
Layered treatments for children with rapidly progressing myopia.
The Myopia Control Pathway
Baseline Measurements
Cycloplegic refraction, axial length measurement, and corneal topography establish your child's true starting point.
Risk Assessment & Counselling
We explain projected progression, what's at stake long-term, and walk through every available option.
Treatment Selection
Together we pick the treatment that fits your child's lifestyle, age, and prescription.
Regular Monitoring
Follow-ups every 6 months including axial length to confirm the treatment is working — and adjust if it isn't.
Long-Term Plan
Most children stay on myopia control until their late teens, when progression naturally slows.
Who Should Be Evaluated
Any child with a new myopia diagnosis, a family history of high myopia, or a prescription that's been increasing year over year. The earlier we intervene, the more progression we can prevent. A myopia control consultation is appropriate for children as young as 6.
